AYURVEDIC THERAPIES

Kati vasti
A typical ayurvedic treatment in which specially prepared warm medicated oil is retained in a specially prepared frame of herbal paste on the low back. It alleviates low backache and spinal disorders. It helps to increase the blood circulation, strengthens muscles and the connective tissues and lubricates the joints keeping them flexible and pain free.

Janu vasti 
Similar to the kati vasti but is done on the knees. The knees are the weight-bearing joint of our body. So it is subjected to wear and tear due to our daily activities. This janu vasti strengthens the muscles and connective tissues related to the knees and reduces pain .It is useful in degenerative diseases of the knee, arthritis and sprain.

Griva vasti
Similar to the kati vasti, it is done on the cervical (neck) region. It is useful in conditions related to cervical spondylosis, tension neck syndrome and neck pain.

Shirodhara
A very popular ayurvedic therapy, shirodhara is pouring down fine stream of oil in the forehead (third eye). It provides deep relaxation and reenergizes the body and revitalizes the central nervous system. It is useful in tension headache, loss of sleep, improves sleep quality, and nourishes the nervous system. It can also be done with buttermilk (takra), herbal decoction and medicated milk.

Udwartana
A special ayurvedic treatment for weight reduction. An herbal paste or powder is applied all over the body and deeply massaged with specific movements. It opens the circulatory channels, facilitates the metabolic activities and improves the complexion of the face.

Abhyanga
Abhyanga literally means massage. In this therapy, ayurvedic medicated oils according to the prakriti (body constitution) is applied is followed by massage in specific directions. This treatment improves circulation, facilitates removal of toxins from the body, relieves mental and physical fatigue, strengthens the muscle and nourishes the body tissue.

Shiro-abhyanga
This ancient head massage is homage to a timeless tradition of Ayurveda. The treatment begins with energizing marma points followed by oil application prepared from different hair tonic and nerve tonic herbs. This luxuriant hair invigorating treatment is believed to promote hair growth, restore the natural sheen of the hair fiber, beneficial for hair fall, dandruff, cranial nerve disorders. This oil therapy helps relieve stress from the head, neck and shoulders creating a profound sense of joy and relaxation.The head massage induces a state of calm, peace and tranquility and promotes high levels of alertness and concentration.

Pada abhyanga
A stimulating and soothing massage of the legs, feet and ankles. Feet being the seat of meridians, marma points and nerve endings, is the key to the healing of entire body. Also the secret of foot massage being the improvement of eyesight. This deeply relaxing treatment uses warm herbal healing oil to massage the feet and the lower limbs to restore energy within the body and holistically rebalances the body mind and spirit.

Nasya 
 A very typical ayurvedic treatment where few drops of medicated herbal oils/ herbal extract are administered into the nostrils after an oil massage over the face and sinus area and followed by massage over the nose and the sinus area. It helps to flush out the sinuses. It relieves headache, nasal congestion.



YOGA
YOGA is an ancient knowledge that has been practiced in Southeast Asia since long. It has been a part of the tradition. Yoga is an art of skillful living and being your self. It is about getting to know you. It encompasses all the aspects of life, and also mind, body and spirit. Yoga at the Harihar Ashram is completely pure and traditional in form with its roots in Hatha yoga and designed to suit the individual needs.

Hatha yoga
An individual hatha yoga session that is especially tailored for your individual needs. The yoga instructor with guide you through the session to make you feel relaxed. This session can be your foundation for your daily yoga practice.

Yoga Nidra
It means ‘psychic sleep’, is a state of mind between wakefulness and sleep that opened deep phases of the mind and brings about complete relaxation, peace and complete stillness. It is a guided session where you go into a state of conscious deep sleep and experience extreme relaxation and subtler spiritual exploration. Release all our stress with this very popular yogic method.

Pranayam
Prana is the bridge between body, mind and consciousness. It is the constant movement of awareness. Pranayam equals prana plus ayam. Ayama means ‘to control’ and prana is breath. Pranayam session at the the ashram helps you discovere the intimate relationship between breathing and mental activity and uncovered the art of pranayam.

Tratak
Tratak means to stare or look. It is a different type of meditation which involves concentrating on candle flame. It is used in yoga as a way of developing concentration, improving memory, strengthening the eyes, and stimulating the agya chakra (the third eye). Practicing tratak daily at night is bliss to your eye and mind.



PANCHAKARMA

Panchakarma is a special ayurvedic therapy that is the ultimate mind-body healing experience for detoxifying the body, strengthening the immune system and restoring the balance and well-being. Panchakarma is the heart of all ayurvedic treatments.According to Ayurveda, we accumulate toxins in the body by virtue of our actions both mental and physical. These accumulated toxins create imbalance and form the base for various ailments. Panchakarma is the process of cleansing all these toxins from the body and restore the balance and the body’s healing ability.At Harihar Ashram, we provide residential panchakarma services of various duration and for various ailments and help you to remain healthy both mentally and physically. Also we provide the rejuvenation panchakarma package that helps you to remain healthy and ward off the disease.The panchakarma package is usually of 15 days but can vary according to the condition and requirements.
